Embroidered patch inspired by the Sheikah symbol found in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Offered in two versions: Hero’s Blue (non-glowing) and Azure Glow (glows in the dark!)
Version 1 patch is a standard, non-glowing patch made with bright blue thread.
Version 2 patch is made of phosphorescent thread that glows in the dark after being exposed to UV light. Regular indoor lights (LED, fluorescent, and incandescent) will charge it some, but natural sunlight or a UV light will have greater effect. Like all phosphorescent materials, this is also fluorescent under a black light. The thread appears light blue in normal light, and glows blue in the dark.
FAQ: Why are the glow versions so much more expensive?
A: Unfortunately, the reason is twofold. The first is that glow thread itself is expensive, and the special blue glow used in these Sheikah patches is particularly difficult to come by. But the bigger reason is that glow thread in general is extraordinarily difficult to work with. All embroidery thread is made up of twisted threads. Normally, friction holds these together well. However, glow thread is coated in phosphorescent powder, which acts against friction and causes the thread to unravel easily while embroidering (it holds together just fine once a patch is complete though). Any time a thread unravels and binds up while the machine is running, the must be needle re-threaded by hand, the machine backed up a bit, and the process resumed. With normal thread, this might happen once every 2-3 patches. With glow thread, it can happen 6-8 times *per patch*, and that’s with the machine running at half normal speed (a necessity with the glow thread). So, unfortunately, we must charge more to justify the time and “babysitting” that making these glow patches requires. But we are always working on ways to make the process more efficient and reliable, and as we do, we hope to be able to bring the price difference down!

Every patch features the following:
- Hand-trimmed jump stitches
- Heat-sealed edges
- 40-weight polyester thread throughout
- Zero use of “negative space” / exposed backer; full-surface stitching only
- Synthetic fiber backing felt with interlocking acrylic weave is soft, durable, and will not shrink in the wash
- Multiple backing options:

○ Iron-on w/Ultra Hold HeatnBond
○ Sewn-on VELCRO / hook & loop (hook side standard unless otherwise requested)
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING IRON-ON BACKING:
Iron-on patches are a wonderful convenience, but we strongly recommend sewing the patch down after heat application. The HeatnBond is strong enough to hold up against some flexing and a handful of trips through a hot dryer, but unless it is used in a display-only capacity, it will eventually begin to lift. However, it’s not unlike tape in that it’s strongest when it has never lifted, so if stitching is applied soon after heat bonding, your patch will stay put for years to come.
